I want to make you aware that there has been a ‘spike’ in Church leads thefts from roofs last month in Rutland & Leicestershire. These include the following –

03/08/16 – St Marys church, Manton, Rutland

04/08/16 –  St Edmunds Church, Egleton, Rutland

06/08/16 – St Marys Church, Wyfordby, Nr Melton Mowbray

08/08/16 –  All saints church, Lubenham, Leicestershire

14/08/16 – St Marys Church, Lutterworth

We are carrying out an operation and paying special attention to Rutland Churches, carrying out high visibility patrols & liaising with bordering forces because of this. There is good news in that we have recently arrested 3 Eastern European males on suspicion of lead theft from our 2 Rutland Churches and they are currently on police bail, whilst we are carrying out further enquires.

Our other Problem solving Plans are –

1 – Conducting a burglary campaign in the whole of Rutland – targeting offenders & liaising with neighbouring forces. The last Burglary dwelling on the south beat was on 14th July.

2 – Targeting speeding motorists in Empingham. I have liaised with Rutland County Council & traffic calming measures have now been introduced either side of the village to help reduce speed. Speed enforcement has taken place & since May, 15 Traffic Offence Reports & 74 cautions have been issued. I have also began to start a new community speed watch in the village.
