Village Day 2016 🎉

Following the Parish Council elections last year, it was agreed that time should be spent on helping to bring the village together. It was considered that one way of achieving this was to hold an enjoyable, social and fun event, for all the villagers, their families and friends and all of the groups and organisations that contribute to village life.

It has been agreed that the inaugural ‘Village Day’ event would be held on Saturday 11th June, which will coincide with HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday. The intent is to help to foster village spirit; a sense of ‘belonging’ and an increased awareness of what the village offers.

A Working Group has been identified to take the initiative forward and plans are now well in hand to ensure the success of the event. The event will be staged across a number of locations.

Programme of Events

During the day activities will move North from the Church and its surrounding grassed areas, to the School Hall, the Community Centre, and in the afternoon to the Oval.

The event will conclude with an evening event including live music in The Fox.

Activities will include a series of hands-on activities, including bell ringing; Tai-Chi; flower arranging; ballet; a conservation walk; gardening and horticulture displays; as well as demonstrations by the Scouts and Army Cadets; art and craft displays by the Art Group and the Photo Club; singing with the Chater Choir; a chance to see what goes on in the School and much more.

On the Oval there will be military displays; cricket; children’s competitions; a dog show; a village photo; and a Spitfire flypast – bring your chairs and a picnic for a fun afternoon together.

Hopefully there will be something for everyone and a real opportunity to see what makes North Luffenham such a special place to live.

We hope that you will be able to join us throughout the day to get a real flavour of village life; to meet friends and share experiences and memories and most importantly to have some fun.

*** Please note the date: Saturday 11th June from 10:00am til late. ***

Once the programme is finalised we will circulate a flyer to every house in the village. The Parish Council do hope that you can join us on this special day.
