This Year’s For Rutland Grand Bottle Tombola Raises Over £8100

For Rutland, the organisers of the Grand Bottle Tombola which took place at The Rutland Show on the 1st of June, are delighted to announce that it raised over £8,100! All of the money raised goes to Citizens Advice Rutland, to help pay for two special advisers who support Rutland residents living with the consequences of long-term health conditions.

Tickets at the tombola cost just £1 each, so the amount raised is phenomenal. There were over 1350 bottles which had all been donated by residents of Rutland and friends and supporters of the volunteer fundraising group, and that took a lot of effort right across the county of Rutland and beyond, involving teams of collectors and many drop off points.

Chair of For Rutland, Jeannette Warner said: “Huge thanks go to all of the wonderful people who supported us with donations or who arranged for bottles to be collected and delivered. We couldn’t have raised such a fantastic amount without so many individuals from so many villages taking the time to help out.  A big thank you as well to all of the lovely people who came to the tombola marquee and bought tickets.

“It’s a real community effort and our thanks also go to the many drop-off points which I’d like to mention: Barrowden & Wakerley Shop, Cottesmore Post Office and Shop, Edith Weston Village Store, Market Overton Store, Barbara’s Store in Empingham, The Fox at North Luffenham and Pick’s Barn in Lyndon. Particular thanks go to John Porter Dry Cleaners in Oakham and Nelsons Butchers in Uppingham”.
