I know this reminder for Uppingham Film Night is a bit earlier than usual, but we’ve had a change of plan/flash of inspiration! The film we planned to show on November 11th has been delayed for release (don’t worry, it will appear later) and we realised that this was the perfect opportunity to really remember Armistice Day by showing the wonderful Testament of Youth which was released last year (but too late for a November showing). A powerful drama about Vera Brittain, who left Oxford to nurse during WW1 in order to help in the action along with her brother and lover. As many of you will know, there is a strong connection with Uppingham School. And if you’ve seen it, you will know it is very well worth seeing again.
As ever, £5 tickets will be on sale at the Falcon, but otherwise just turn up at the Town Hall at 7pm for a 7.30 start. We will have our usual home-baked nibbles, and do bring along a bottle of whatever makes the film even better for you (& maybe a cushion to pad the chairs if preferred). We will have a Poppy collection tin on prominent but optional display!
We would love to make this a real testament to remembrance, so do please round up friends and family and come along and join us. And if you could forward this email around that would be great. See you there! Susie
