There have been complaints from residents concerning cars parking on pavements. This can make it difficult for people who need to use mobility aids such as a wheelchair, and also for people with visual problems.

I fully understand and support the need to keep pavements accessible, particularly for wheelchair users, people with mobility difficulties and those with visual impairments. However, I am concerned that the Council has published a clearly identifiable vehicle and its full registration number on an official public platform. In a small community, this may readily identify the owner or driver and could expose them to criticism, hostility or other repercussions without their circumstances having been established or any opportunity to respond. A vehicle registration may constitute personal data when it enables an individual to be identified indirectly. Could the Council please explain what lawful basis and proportionality assessment was relied upon when publishing the registration unredacted? Blurring the number plate would have communicated the public-safety message equally effectively while avoiding unnecessary identification. I would therefore ask that the photograph be amended and that the Council reviews its approach to publishing identifiable vehicles in future.
I would urge the NLPC to delete and repost this vehicle without readily identifying the owner of the vehicle.
