ST GEORGE’S BARRACKS – LETTER TO RCC COUNCILLORS

Next week the County Council’s initial Master Plan for the development of St George’s Barracks will be published. This will propose building more than 3,000 homes on the barrack site in additional to a quarry and an industrial site. To pre-empt the publication of the Master Plan the North Luffenham / Edith Weston Parish Council Working Group have sent a personalised letter to every County Councillor expressing out concern at proposals to build a town considerably larger than Uppingham in the heart of the County, and asking them if this really is Right for Rutland. A copy of the letter to Councillors is attached for your information.

Well done Paul for a letter that although “Tamer” than most would like puts our initial points across.

We are about to change our County motto from “Much in Little” to “Too Much in Little” !!

I for one do not want the influx that the development & affordable housing will create and I know that the VAST majority feel the same way. I am disgusted that after all of the “Flannel” from the initial meeting to highlight the benefits of our involvement we are going to be sold down the river so that local councilors can score points, they should be ashamed of what they doing to our beautiful county and the fact that take no notice of what the electorate wants.

Alan Duncan needs to stand up and be counted for the people who stood up and voted for him for the benefit of Rutland

Thank you both for a hard hitting and excellent letter. Is our MP receiving a copy of the same? We read an excellent article/letter in the Times newspaper recently from the campaign for the protection of rural England. If this is alright with you both we would like to forward your letter onto them to try and garner their support.

Thank you again for your hard work on this serious matter.

A good letter, thank you. I’m starting to believe that, by attending these public meetings, we are allowing RCC to say that “they’ve consulted fully with the public” whilst in fact ignoring everything that is said and ploughing on regardless. We shall see…
