Police Recruitment Campaign

As a valued member of the community I am writing to you to share details of our current recruitment campaign. I would like to take this opportunity to ask that you promote this within your communities and encourage those interested in a career with us to attend one of the seminars.
We are welcoming applicants aged 18-57 from all sections of the community; however we are particularly keen to hear from women and members of minority ethnic groups, so that the force reflects it communities in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The recruitment seminars will be held across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland throughout May and into early June. Those attending will have the opportunity to find out first-hand what it is like to be a police officer and more about the recruitment process. They will have the opportunity to meet serving police officers, hear about their experiences, and find out about the rewarding and diverse career opportunities.
Full details of the recruitment campaign are on our website at www.leics.polcie.uk I have taken the time to include details of the up and coming seminars for you to share within your communities:

POPPIES FOR REMEMBRANCE

This year on 11th November 2018 it will be the centenary of the ending of the Great War after which the poppy became the symbol of Remembrance.

To mark this there are many schemes using poppies.

Here in the village , our Rector, Pippa would like a scheme for knitting/ crocheting poppies for a Cascade of flowers outside the church. This should be beautiful provided enough poppies are made! This project will be spearheaded by Fay Cummings and further details will follow after Easter.

In Oakham, it is hoped to replicate a version from the Tower of London with clay poppies at the castle.

I would like to set up an opportunity in the village for the clay poppy scheme ( open to men, women and older children ) and hope this would be one Saturday in June.

Apparently during a session of about 2 hours , it takes each person about 15 MINUTES to make a poppy. These will then be taken away for firing. All tuition is given. Artistic talent not needed.

Cost is zero although donations are welcome.

I need about 20 expressions of interest to set this up.

So if you would be interested please contact me by email : hilary.daintith@gmail.com

Help Needed ?

With the help of Good Companions, members of the Parish Council have visited a number of villagers to see whether they needed any help as a result of the adverse weather. Those visited had made provision and often had the support of family and friends. However if anybody else requires help, or knows of somebody who does, then North Luffenham Good Neighbour Scheme can be contacted (8 am to 8 pm) on 07825 697841, and the scheme will endeavour to help.

Prize giving for Village Plan Survey submissions

The Village Plan survey offered a prize for a meal for two at The Fox and everybody who did the survey was invited to enter a telephone number. The draw took place at The Fox and the winning number was drawn by one of the bar staff.

Myra was the lucky winner and decided to have lunch with a friend.

They had an enjoyable meal.

(The Steering Group for the Village Survey are grateful to Jason Allen, landlord of The Fox, for providing the prize).

A reminder that there will be a presentation of the results of the Village Survey at 7 pm on Thursday 25th January in the Community Centre.

Look to your right

The Village Survey has been written up and if you look to right you will see a link that takes you to the report and perhaps something to read over the holiday period.

Feedback and comments welcomed.

There will be a presentation in the Community Centre of the survey on Thursday 25th January 2018 at 7pm.

And finally: The Prize Draw Entry: this is for the two course meal and a bottle of house wine at The Fox: the draw will take place at The Fox on 21st December at 7pm in the upstairs room.

Prize Draw

The prize draw for the Village Plan Survey will take place on Thursday 21st December 7pm in the upstairs room at The Fox.

There will be a random selection of a telephone number from all those entered in the survey.

The prize is for a two course meal for two with a bottle of house wine at The Fox and the winner will be contacted on that phone number.
