It is not often that something free comes along. A safer villages scheme is being launched and the attached leaflet explains the details. Materials that will help in crime prevention and safety in the home are on offer and the proposal would be that this resource would be kept in the Community Centre and given out when requested. The ‘Safer Village Champion’ would have to undergo some training but this would be only 1-2 hours long.

The app is also very useful for alerts on road closures: for example if the A1 north or south is closed due to an accident.

On Monday 18th of March a resident of the village found a stranger on her patio. The man was asked if there was any problem, replied in a well spoken voice and left. There was no vehicle to indicate, such as a delivery driver, as to why he should be at the property. The incident has been reported to the police and villagers are asked to be vigilant to any further sightings.
If you see a crime taking place or something suspicious please call 999 noting as much detail as possible including time, location, descriptions, direction of travel from the scene, make and model of any vehicles and if possible any registrations. For any non-emergency incidents or to pass any intelligence call 101 (call costs 15p for entire call) or you can email your local Police officer PC 2113 Pete Icke Peter.icke@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk

Concert in Oakham SUNDAY DECEMBER 9TH at 7.30PM
Oakham School Chapel.
The Armed Man A mass for peace by Karl Jenkins
Performed by Oakham choral society; this is a modern work written in 2000 to mark the end of the war in Kosovo. It is a fitting end to this centenary year of the end of the Great War.
If you do not like choral works, this is a bit different. Some beautiful harmonies with exciting use of drums and brass instruments to paint a musical picture of the build up t o battle , the horrors of battle and its aftermath with a plea for peace.
It is worth a listen .
Tickets available from Walkers Bookshop ( Oakham ) or on the door on the night.
A sum of money was last night somewhere in the village. If found please could you contact a parish councillor or Tim Smith on 01780 360083
