It is not often that something free comes along. A safer villages scheme is being launched and the attached leaflet explains the details. Materials that will help in crime prevention and safety in the home are on offer and the proposal would be that this resource would be kept in the Community Centre and given out when requested. The ‘Safer Village Champion’ would have to undergo some training but this would be only 1-2 hours long.

The defibrillator situated at The Fox is out of action. The problem has been reported to the Community Heartbeat Trust who supplied the defibrillator.

On Monday 18th of March a resident of the village found a stranger on her patio. The man was asked if there was any problem, replied in a well spoken voice and left. There was no vehicle to indicate, such as a delivery driver, as to why he should be at the property. The incident has been reported to the police and villagers are asked to be vigilant to any further sightings.

The Armed Man A mass for peace by Karl Jenkins
Performed by Oakham choral society; this is a modern work written in 2000 to mark the end of the war in Kosovo. It is a fitting end to this centenary year of the end of the Great War.
If you do not like choral works, this is a bit different. Some beautiful harmonies with exciting use of drums and brass instruments to paint a musical picture of the build up t o battle , the horrors of battle and its aftermath with a plea for peace.
It is worth a listen .

The event is aimed at community organisations, groups, charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. The conference will help you continue to support people and places in Rutland, and to work in partnership to help to shape a resilient, well and prosperous Rutland.
