Footbridge Unsafe.
The footbridge over the River Chater on the footpath from the Church to the Pilton railway bridge was inspected by the safety officer from Rutland County Council (RCC) and considered to be unsafe.

The damage has been reported to RCC abd hoepfully repairs will be done in the near furure
An important request to everyone from wildlife and animal organisations
As temperatures exceed levels that our wildlife is used to, especially over the next few days, could we ask people to please leave out bowls of water in our gardens and allotments to help them. It’s also particularly important to leave bowls of water on the ground and in accessible places overnight for hedgehogs and other wildlife to find.
Another important reminder from the RSPCA regarding domestic animals is to please remember not to walk your dogs, especially not on hard (potentially very hot and dry) surfaces, during the heat as this could cause heat stroke or prove fatal.

Vandalism to Chater Bridge : again
There has been further damage to the footbridge on the footpath from the Church to the Pilton Rail Bridge on Glebe Road. It is similar to the previous damage and one can only assume it is wanton vandalism.
If you do see any antisocial behaviour please contact the police. If you have information that might be helpful our beat officer, PC Icke, may be contacted by email: Peter.Icke@leics.police.uk

North Luffenham Good Neighbour Scheme: we need your help.
The North Luffenham Good Neighbour Scheme (NLGNS) was first set up 8 years ago and has provided support to villagers over those years. Many of our original supporters have now left, due to illness or moving away from the village. We had hoped to relaunch just as Covid closed down all activities.
During the lockdown it was the NGNS, partly supported by furloughed villagers, that kept up deliveries of prescriptions and coordinated collections from the local surgeries.
Now many of those volunteers are back at work and only five households support GNS. This is not sufficient to offer help every week since volunteers do not coordinate their holidays or times away.
A meeting to present how the GNS works is being held this Wednesday evening ( June 29th) in the Community Centre at 7pm. It should only take an hour.
Please come and hear about this voluntary scheme which is not too demanding but does fulfil an important function in our community.
North Luffenham Parish Council General and Trust Meetings 20th June 2022 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre
The agendas and papers for the meeting are attached below.
How can we spend your money? Your ideas and suggestions wanted.
North Luffenham Parish Council (NLPC) has funds from Community Infrastructure Levies (CIL). These payments are made when developments, such as houses being built, and the monies can be used for a broad range of facilities such as play areas, parks and green spaces, cultural and sports facilities. CIL monies were used following the Rosewood development to fund the new play equipment on The Oval.
NLPC would would welcome your suggestions as to how the present funds could be used to enhance facilities within the parish. Please send any ideas to the parish clerk: clerk@northluffenham.org.uk
Further information on CIL can be found on: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/community-infrastructure-levy#spending-the-levy
Bus Stop Clean Up
A resident took it upon herself to clean up the bus stop in Church Street as she was concerned about the image it gave of the village and possible injury from broken glass. Unfortunately the graffiti will take longer to erase. The pictures speak for themselves.

Apology for graffiti on bench

The above note was posted on the bench and some of the graffiti has been erased. That an apology has been made along with an effort to make good is much appreciated.
Antisocial Behaviour
Unfortunately there has been more antisocial behaviour in the parish. The newly installed benchdown Moor Lane has had some infantile daubings scrawled on it:

There was recently damage to play equipment on The Oval and to the wooden field bridge over The Chater. Previoulsy there was vandalism of the wall lights on the wall leading down to the school and church. The repair to the play equipment is quite costly and these may result in an increase in the precept.
Please report any suspicious behaviour to the police, who have been informed of the incidents and our beat officer can be contacted: Peter.Icke@leics.police.uk
