A parishioner has reported that a tree has fallen and is completely blocking the road out of North Luffenham just before the Pilton Road crossroad.
Another tree is reported to be down near Glaston
Rutland County Council have been alerted
From Paul Cummings, PC Chairman
It has recently been reported to the Parish Council that an elderly resident slipped on ‘Dog Mess’ on the oval last week and as a result suffered an injury. All dog owners are requested to ensure that their dogs are kept under control and that they clear up after their dogs at all times.
If you have….and your family and friends have seen them all before….
…why not let local folk have a look too.
There is a Display board at the School – for anyone to show off their pictures.
They do not have to be certain themes, nor a certain size – its up to you to choose the ones you think we would like to see. So come on – pull out those albums and drawers, go into attics and garages…..

Our current Neighbourhood Priorities’ are:
1 – Tackling crime in Barrowden village due to the recent spike in crime there. We are carrying out high visibility patrols and liaising with surrounding forces sharing intelligence and information. Since we began this priority, we have had no further crimes in the village, which is great news.
2 – Targeting hare coursing along the A47 corridor from Uppingham to Tixover & parts of the north beat area from Langham towards the A1. Last month, members of the public reported to police numerous reports of hare coursing. As a result several people and vehicles have been identified as taking part in this illegal activity.
I would encourage you all to be vigilant and report any persons you suspect as acting suspicious. Take note of any vehicle and registration number they are in and ring the police on 101.
By all means, let me know and your Neighbourhood coordinators, but ring 101 in the first instance, so the information can be reported and acted upon straightaway.
Remember to visit the Rural Watch website, via www.leics.police.uk/ruralwatch for rural crime updates and a whole host of crime prevention advice.
You can also email PCSO6516 Diana Freeman for any advice at diana.freeman@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk
Perhaps better known as dog roundworm the embryonated eggs of which can be ingested by humans causing disease called toxocariasis. Young children are particularly at risk as it is picked up by ingestion of eggs from infected dog faeces. It is fortunately rare but rare things do happen. Dog mess is not only unpleasant but a potential source of an unpleasant infection.
This item is being reposted as another incident of dog fouling on The Oval and also on a street in the village was reported to the Parish Council. In the incident on The Oval the owner of the dog was challenged but refused to clean up. The vast majority of dog owners conscientiously clean up after their dogs and please continue to be vigilant when walking your dog. If users of The Oval see an infringement please continue to challenge and point out that there are bins provided.

NEW PERSPECTIVES THEATRE – OH WHISTLE AND I’LL COME TO YOU (based on the classic ghost story by M. R. James)
Tickets are now available for the New Perspectives Theatre Company’s showing of Oh Whistle and I’ll Come to You which will be in South Luffenham Village Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday 6th December.
The tickets cost £10 each and can be purchased from Malcolm, phone 720687 or Noel, phone 720112.
Suitable for audience age 14+years. Running time: 90 mins + interval
A prying hand brings forth from centuries of sleep… a mysterious thing… it seems a whistle… and on it engraved… these ominous words… WHO’S THAT COMING
Professor Parkins takes a room at The Globe.
Away from Cambridge, a peaceful coastal retreat with minimal interruption from the inn’s young valet should be perfect for writing. But on taking a walk to explore the area, Parkins finds an ancient whistle with a soul-stirring inscription. Choosing to ignore its warning, the professor is soon to discover he is not alone…
Widely regarded as the father of the modern ghost story, M. R. James’ eerie tale is re-imagined by David Rudkin, described by the Observer as ‘Britain’s greatest living dramatic poet’ into this new Christmas chiller. This production marks David Rudkin’s 80th year and the 80th anniversary of the death of M.R. James.
These events are sponsored by Centre Stage which subsidise the cost and make live theatre affordable for local communities.

Everyone is welcome to come to the annual Coffee Morning and Lunch in aid of The Macmillan Cancer Support Charity which will be held in South Luffenham Village Hall on Friday 30th September.
Coffee/tea and cakes to eat or buy will be available from 11.00am and lunch from noon-1.30pm.
If you are willing to bake a cake, cook a lunch course or help on the day, please contact Noel Seymour on 01780720112 or noel_seymour@uwclub.net
The money raised is used to provide essential support to people who are living with cancer and their families. One in three of us will face cancer, and the money raised at the coffee morning will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face it alone.
Offers of help on the day or cakes, preserves and raffle prizes would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Katy Ellis
Daphne Stanley kindly hosted a fundraising coffee morning on 7th September, and successfully raised just over £300.00 for the British Heart Foundation and ‘For Rutland in Rutland’, beating last year’s total.
Many thanks to those who supported the event and donated to good causes.
Katy Ellis
P.S. Daphne has also said that one of the visitors left behind a ladies ‘Indigo’ brand fawn coloured cardigan.
This coming Saturday, 24th September, the Uppingham Rotary Club is hosting Marc Allum from the BBC Antiques Road Show for a talk at the Uppingham Cricket Club, Leicester Road Uppingham, and an opportunity for people to bring along smallish items for valuation. It is not a long drawn out session with doors opening at 1030, and everything finished after a couple of very interesting hours.
Tea and Coffee provided – all for £10 a ticket. on the day and £8 in advance. I am the current Rotary Club President and have tickets available for £8 should anyone be interested.
