Dog mess once again !!
North Luffenham Parish Council has yet again had complaints about dog mess on paths and from residents who have open plan front lawns within the village.
The majority of dog owners are responsible but for those who think it doesn’t matter dog mess is offensive and a health hazard, especailly for children.

North and South Luffenham Bench Project
A proposal was put forward by a resident of South Luffenham for benches at intervals on the walk from South Luffenham, around North Luffenham and The Settings. For those less able it would give the opportunity to have a rest, enjoy the views and the exercise would be beneficial to their health and well being. North Luffenham Parish Council (NLPC) felt that this was a good idea as it would also be of benefit to residents of North Luffenham as well. In a joint venture with South Luffenham Parish Council (SLPC) NLPC has resolved to enable this proposal.
Below is a picture of the type of bench chosen. A map of the sites for the benches can be downloaded. NLPC is appealing for funds for the purchase of the benches and their secure placements. Community Centre Bookings
As you may know, the Parish Council have taken over the management and operation of the Community Centre, in the room located behind the school.
The room and toilets have been redecorated by RCC as part of the handover, and additional facilities will be added in the next few months (new furniture, IT equipment etc)
The room is available for booking by any person or group wishing to use it.

NLPC Annual Parish Council and Trust Meetings: Monday 17th May 2021 @ NL Community Centre 7.30pm
Please find attached the papers for the above meetings. As this meeting is being held in the Community Centre we need to ensure that it is within the Covid guidelines for indoor meetings. As a consequence, we are restricted to having 15 people (including Cllrs and staff) in the room. Therefore we may need turn residents away if it looks that this number is going to be exceeded.
Any attendee must wear a face mask when they arrive and leave, santise their hands on entry and if they have a mobile phone, scan the QR code we have for the centre. If you do not have a phone then please complete the signing in sheet. We will ensure that the chairs are spaced 2 meters apart and will have been wiped down before use.
Finally if you have any of the following symptons then please do not attend:
a new continuous cough
a high temperature
a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell

Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride (DGR) 2021
The DGR unites classic and vintage style motorcycle riders all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
Looks like the date for this year’s DGR is going to be at a potentially warmer and drier time of the year this time (fingers crossed) for the UK.
The 2021 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is going ahead on its new date of Sunday 23rd May 2021.

The Community Centre, following its refurbishment, is open today for the election of a Police and Crime Commissioner. The Polling Station closes at 10pm.
Wildflower Planting
Many thanks to all those, and dog, who turned out to help with preparation of the gound for the wildflower seeds. Quite a bit of effort is required for the preparation and the number of volunteers made it much easier. Let’s hope for a good display.

Wildflower Area on The Oval: help needed.
There have been requests from residents to have areas of wildflowers established. The photograph show a triangular area, at the lower part of The Oval by Church St., bounded by the walls and the line of trees.
Wildflower seeds have been bought by the parish council and if you would like to help establish the wildflowers please come along on Tues next week (27th) at 5pm – and to bring along a garden rake if you have one – when the area will be raked and the seeds sown.
