North Luffenham Garden Club meeting Thursday 13 April

Our next meeting is this Thursday 13th April @7.30pm in the Community Centre, when we welcome Dr Andrew Ward  with his talk on ‘Plants that Excite’  (A personal selection, mainly of herbaceous perennial plants – these are a mixture of unusual varieties of more common plants and some rarer ones which are just as “growable”.)

Andrew set up his nursery at Norwell near Newark over 22 years ago and specialises in choice and unusual herbaceous perennials and alpines. The nursery is based around a one acre plantsman’s garden which holds over 2,000 different species.  Andrew is a well known and respected speaker to the Hardy Plant Society and many other gardening groups, and he really knows his stuff! Well worth listening to….and he provides a list of all the plants illustrated in his talk so you don’t have to write it all down yourself!

Guests welcome – £2 with tea/coffee/biscuits beforehand and a raffle.  Don’t forget to bring along any spare seeds  or plants you have yourself to sell too.

Distribution of the Village Plan Questionnaire

Over the next two weeks the Village Plan Questionnaire will be delivered to each house hold and the Parish Council would be grateful if each adult in the household could complete the questionnaire,  this will only take about 15 minutes. There is a much shortened questionnaire for 11 – 15 year olds as the Parish Council would also very much appreciate their opinions. One to two weeks following delivery, will be collected, or you can deliver them personally to the ‘post box’ in The Fox.

The questionnaires can also be completed online by clicking on following link:

Why is there no water supply?

We are receiving reports of low water pressure or no supply in the L E 15 North Luffenham area, this has been caused by a burst water main. We aim to fix the problem by 6 P M. Your water supply will then gradually return to normal.

Sometimes the water may be slightly discoloured after the supply is restored. Running the cold tap gently should clear this. Sorry for any problems this has caused.

More info can be found at www.stwater.co.uk/in-my-area or Water Supply Interruptions in North Luffenham.

PFA 100 Club

St Mary and St John Primary School, North Luffenham, is opening up its 100 Club to the village and inviting new people to join in and take part. This is a fantastic way to support your local school, whilst having a bit of a flutter!

For £12.00 per year (only £1.00 per month) you can take part in a monthly draw to win 3 prizes, from £10.00 – £25.00. After prize money, the remaining profit from the 100 Club goes to the school via the PFA to help fund equipment, resources and opportunities for the children.

There are a limited number of places available, but the good news is that anybody can buy a ticket, whether you live locally, are a parent, or a friend of the school, and you can buy as many numbers as you like!

If you’d like to have a go, please contact Tina Sewell on 07796135790 or email tinasewell156@btinternet.com

All participants must be over 16.
