Macmillan Coffee Morning & Lunch in South Luffenham Village Hall

Everyone is welcome to come to the annual Coffee Morning and Lunch in aid of The Macmillan Cancer Support Charity which will be held in South Luffenham Village Hall on Friday 30th September.

Coffee/tea and cakes to eat or buy will be available from 11.00am and lunch from noon-1.30pm.

If you are willing to bake a cake, cook a lunch course or help on the day, please contact Noel Seymour on 01780720112 or noel_seymour@uwclub.net

The money raised is used to provide essential support to people who are living with cancer and their families. One in three of us will face cancer, and the money raised at the coffee morning will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face it alone.

Offers of help on the day or cakes, preserves and raffle prizes would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Katy Ellis

Charity Air Rifle Competition

Take part in a Charity Air Rifle Competition this Sunday at Digby Farm in aid of the Royal British Legion

Hunter Field Target, also known as HFT is a popular target shooting sport that combines the air gun disciplines of target shooting with hunting scenarios. This is predominately an outdoor sport, shot with air rifles rated at a maximum of 12ft.lbf. The aim of the competition is to ‘knock down’ as many of the 30 targets as possible, which are placed in certain positions to simulate different hunting scenarios.

This Sunday 10th July, the UK Association of HFT is holding its Poppy Shoot, set in a field of Christmas trees at Digby Farm, Station Road. There are several spare rifles available to give an opportunity for anyone interested to come and have a go. The cost is £10 and all proceeds go to the Royal British Legion. The ground opens at 8am, and shooting starts at approximately 10.15am. There will be refreshments and toilet on site. Please find more details here

If you are interested, you must pre-book with Jason Ellis on 01780 722173 (leave a message, or ring early evening).

A thank you from Nic for supporting cycle4mango

nic lands endI have now turned the corner and am now in the home straight in terms of fund raising – I’ve raised £8000 of my target of £8644 – (£8644 representing £1 for every orphan who is registered with the Mango Tree Orphan Support Programme).

I would like to thank the very kind supporters of my ride in the village who took an interest in the ride, and helped me towards that target. I am especially grateful to Steve Marson who gave me so much technical support and advice before I set off!

The Mango Tree has been blessed by a film director who is a keen supporter and who went out to Kenya to visit the work of the charity and made a film for us.

Fox News! – Funds raised for Fibromyalgia, Body Shop party, Quiz kitty and Winter leagues starting

Quiz Update

Monthly quiz returned last evening and was won by Anty’s Mob. Runner’s up, Lads On Tour both winning cash prizes.

We’ve changed a couple of things in the quiz and we now have a kitty that the pub adds £5 every month (rollover if it’s not won).

Next monthly quiz is Oct 13th and the pot will be £10. Everyone welcome £1 pp entry fee, no limit on team members AND a free bowl of chips at half time!

Charity Events

Fibromyalgia Association UK LogoThe weekly quiz last week was in aid of charity and it was written and run by Sian. We held a raffle as well and on Saturday, a car boot sale. We raised £280 in total, half donated to FMAUK (Fibromyalgia Association) and the other half to Stamford Fibromyalgia Support Group.

If anyone would like any information on the condition that Sian herself struggles with, please pop in and have a chat to her. She’d be happy to help and put you in touch with the local group.

Many thanks to everyone that donated raffle prizes and items for the car boot sale and for coming along and spending your money!

Winter Leagues

Winter being around the corner, the quiz and domino leagues start again over the next two weeks.

Along with this, we are now entered in a local darts league and are looking for those that have already put their names down to play, and anyone else interested, to come along this Thurs eve at 7.30 ish to go over the details.

Upcoming Events

Oct 7th we’re hosting a BODYSHOP party. 7.30 start and everyone is most welcome. No pressure to buy ( not even a drink!).

Nov 4th will be a Christmas (and general) card and small gift evening. As above.

1st Anniversary

This week sees our first anniversary here so (as always) we’d like to thank all of our customers for their continued support. Here’s to an even bigger and better twelve months!
