A WORD OF CAUTION FROM OUR LOCAL POLICE OFFICER…….

Please see the note below from PC Paul Le Pla of the South Rutland beat

Hello all,

Recently I have spoken to one of our Neighbourhood Watch coordinators regarding door to door sellers.

My advice is that  if door to door sellers descend on us, then please telephone the police on 101 to inform us, so we can check these people out.

They often get dropped off in villages in groups & later get picked up together. If you see them with a car, then discreetly obtain the registration number details.  To legally sell door to door, you require a Pedlars certificate, which the seller must show you.

When speaking to these people, I would suggest that you be polite & just say, “No thanks, I do not buy from people at the door”.

Unfortunately, there are links to criminal activity associated with some of these people.

Trading Standards would also like to hear of such incidents. My contact is Rob EDMONDS & he works from the Peterborough office, but covers Rutland.

He can be contacted on either 01733 747474 (main office) or 01733 453528 (his direct line).

Please feel free to pass these numbers around to local residents?

Regards

Paul

Be vigilant!

I have been advised by our Community Police Officer that there are thieves operating in our area of Rutland and all residents are asked to be extra vigilant about security. This is especially important during this hot spell of weather when we, of necessity, open windows etc.

Slow Down!

The Parish Council have been made aware of a number of incidents involving inconsiderate motorists driving too fast on Butt Lane.  The lane, is adjacent to the Oval recreation ground which is used by Children playing, dog walkers and parents taking children to school. Butt Lane itself does not have a pavement so we ask all drivers to take extra care and reduce speed.
