Postal Votes: Press Release from RCC.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR POSTAL BALLOT HAS BEEN DELAYED

All postal votes for the Rutland and Stamford Constituency were issued to Royal Mail on time in two batches (one batch issued on 20th June for postal voters registered before 4th June, the second batch issued on 24th June for postal voters registered after 4th June).

Royal Mail are handling a large number of postal votes for all constituencies in the general election. As of Friday 28th June, the Council is aware that some postal voters in the Rutland and Stamford area are yet to receive their ballot papers.

If postal ballots are not received from Royal Mail on Monday 1st July, voters can request a replacement ballot by calling Rutland County Council on: 01572 720 954. This can then be collected from the Council’s Catmose offices in Oakham, once processed.

If waiting until Monday 1st July to receive your postal ballot means you will be unable to vote and you have not already done so, please contact the Council urgently before 4.30pm on Friday 28th June by calling: 01572 720 954.

Some Council staff have experienced verbal abuse when trying to assist postal voters affected by these delays. This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Recycling Centre to close temporarily.

Due to sewer repair works by Anglian Water taking place on Willoughby Road in Morcott, North Luffenham Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will be closed from 24th June 2024 whilst work is completed.

To allow the work to take place Willoughby Road will be closed and therefore there will be no safe access routes to the HWRC for larger vehicles/HGVs to empty containers. The repair works are due to be completed on Tuesday 2nd July, following which the site will reopen.

To ensure that residents continue to have access to an HWRC during this time, Rutland County Council will be opening Cottesmore HWRC for 7 days a week (10am – 6pm) until North Luffenham HWRC is reopen.

Please note that Cottesmore HWRC is unable to accept trailers and is extremely busy on Fridays, so please avoid visiting on this day if at all possible

Woodland Walk Steps Upgraded

The steps at the entrance to the Woodland Walk at the top of Pinfold Lane have been upgraded so that they are more secure.

Please use this, and the allotment entrance/exit, to access the Woodland and not walk across the back of the houses on Geoff Sewell Close.

Interested In An Indian Food Tasting Session?

Hello to all my fellow neighbours, as many of you know I run “Jaimi’s Spice Kitchen” – where I offer curry cooking classes within the comfort of your own home.

To give you all a taster of what my food is like, I was thinking of holding a food sampling session on my front garden so you are able to get a taste of the kind of dishes you could learn to make during my classes.

This would be a new experience for me too, but I thought it would be a lovely way to share my passion, give you all a taster and meet all of our local village people 😊.

I would really appreciate, so I can gauge interest – if you could leave a reply below or send me a message/call to let me know if you would be interested in popping by my sampling session so I can decide on whether to go ahead and plan one, or not.

Many thanks,

Jaimi

Plant Sale Clearance @ The Fox until Wednesday

North Luffenham Garden Club enjoyed a busy Plant Sale yesterday but we have some surplus stock of tomato & veg plants, houseplants and even some perennials from the borders of Burghley House 😉

So do drop by, have a look and pick up some real bargains – ignore the price tickets, just leave a donation in the red pillar box under the Pagoda.
Everything must go by Wednesday so tell your friends & family… and afterwards enjoy some cooling refreshment at the bar of your host Jason!

It’s certainly not too late to plant those tomatoes…
