Jason, Caitlin, Benjamin and Tracy Steward would like to thank everyone for their thoughtful wishes, cards and flowers and to everyone who attended Pauline’s thanksgiving service yesterday – including all our 4 legged waggy-tailed friends!
The flowers are being left in North Luffenham church and we’d very much like the village to be able to appreciate them whilst they last so please do pop in especially if you couldn’t be there with us.
Mum’s funeral cortege will be leaving Rosewood, North Luffenham at 10.45am for a short private family service at Great Glen Crematorium. If you like to see her off on her last journey please feel free to stand outside in the Close as we depart.
All are invited to attend Mum’s funeral service at North Luffenham Church on Wednesday 7th June 2023 at 1pm.
It was a specific request of Mum’s that all her dog walking friends who are able to come, bring their dogs to the church service – so please feel free to do so and fulfil her wish.
Please do also join us afterwards at The Fox for food and refreshments. Dogs are also welcome at the pub (but in the bar area only).
There is a tribute page here https://paulinetyler.muchloved.com where you can view the funeral details and also leave a donation to mum’s chosen charities.
It’s swarming season for the honeybees. If you see a cloud of bees, accompanied by a loud buzzing – this is a honeybee swarm. It’s not at all dangerous, but you may wish to avoid it. The swarm will eventually land on a tree branch looking something like this –
The beekeepers of Luffenham are keen to identify swarms found locally, so if you see one, please let us know by text or call 07973 508547.
Coming up on Sunday 28th May from 1 – 3.30pm is Alcohol (Ink) Decorated Candles – these make beautiful gifts and every one is unique. Places are available at £25 per person – just get in touch with Sue Ball on 07920 841058 to book.
All are welcome to donate and/or come along to buy some glorious plants this weekend under the Pagoda @ The Fox. Any questions, please contact us at northluffenhamgardenclub@gmail.com
This year’s annual village trip will take place on Wednesday 5th July with a visit to both Wells-next-the-sea and Hunstanton.
We would like to thank North Luffenham village trust for sponsoring the coach and therefore as in previous years this trip is free to North Luffenham residents. Please note that places are limited to the coach capacity and therefore we recommend you confirm your seat as soon as possible.
Watch the boats go by in the picturesque harbour of Wells and uncover its fascinating history. Did you know that in the 1800’s Lifeboat Horses were trained to gallop into action at the sound of rocket fire? They would tow a 33ft lifeboat two and a half miles to its launch site at Holkham Gap! Look out for the partly submerged sculpture honouring these brave animals in the quay. Perhaps take a stroll along beach mile, enjoying views across the marshes and harbour from the raised path. Or alternatively wander around the unique little shops for some retail therapy.
Since 1946 Hunstanton has been a go-to seaside town, with much of its Victorian charm still visible today. The classic fun fair, Esplanade Gardens, pitch-and-put, beach and rock pools, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Don’t forget the obligatory fish and chips too at either Hunstanton or Wells Quay side.
The coach will depart from The Fox at 9.15am prompt arriving in Wells at 11.30am, setting down and picking up at 2pm in Wells Coach Park. We will then arrive in Hunstanton at 2.45pmand head back home to North Luffenham at 5pm. The coach will have toilet facilities. To book your place on the coach please email alison.gibson15@icloud.com or call on 07769 322551. Should you have any queries regarding the trip please do not hesitate to contact Jason on 07773396153 or Alison on 07769 322551.
The civic amenity site in North Luffenham is re-opening from 10 am today and from next Tuesday the Cottesmore site will be reverting to it’s standing opening of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
