The Village Christmas Day Church Service (Communion) will be held at 9.30am conducted by Rev Jo Saunders. All are welcome and Children and their toys are encouraged.
The drive wall of Stonecroft on Digby Drive was knocked down yesterday (Dec 20) morning – probably between 11am and 12 midday. No notification has been given to the occupiers of Stonecroft about the incident. The damage suggests the driver reversed into it and he/she must have known. Everyone is invited to the Village Carol Service this evening, Sunday 16th December at 6pm in the Church. Through Drama, beautiful well known Music, Poetry and Song experience the wonderful Christmas Story coming to life. This is a family service for everyone and will include Drinks and Mince pies after the Service.
Rutland County Council’s December Cabinet Meeting on 18th December is to review the latest version of the Evolving Masterplan, together with the business case for a supporting bid to the national Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF).
This will allow Cabinet to assess whether the Plan should be recommended to Rutland County Council’s January 2019 Full Council meeting for approval.

Joe Whitehead, experienced head gardener for many years, including broadcasting, writing and being a panellist on gardening programmes.
14 February 2019 ‘A Garden for All Seasons’ – a detailed look at the planting in Diane’s garden at all times of the year, with practical ideas for increasing the flowering season Diane Clement, Director of the Seed Exchange for the Alpine, Garden Society, with many years experience growing, showing and judging.

The Armed Man A mass for peace by Karl Jenkins
Performed by Oakham choral society; this is a modern work written in 2000 to mark the end of the war in Kosovo. It is a fitting end to this centenary year of the end of the Great War.
If you do not like choral works, this is a bit different. Some beautiful harmonies with exciting use of drums and brass instruments to paint a musical picture of the build up t o battle , the horrors of battle and its aftermath with a plea for peace.
It is worth a listen .

World War I started on 28 July 1914 and ended on 11 November 1918 at 11am, 100 years ago.
The fallen who came from North Luffenham are listed below in order of age, from the youngest who was 15, to the eldest who was 31/32 when the war started.
An arch of knitted and crocheted poppies has been created by village residents to produce a cascade of flowers around the entrance to the church to commemorate the centenary of the ending of the Great War on Remembrance Day.
If you are unable to join us on Sunday do please visit the Village Church to see the beautiful Poppy installation and maybe pause for a minute at our Commonwealth War Graves Commission Plot.
This wonderfully detailed Remembrance Kneeler, crafted by Liliane Coogan and Fay Cummings, will be presented in Church tomorrow during the Remembrance Day service.

On Sunday 11th November the village is invited to gather at the Village Church to remember those that have lost their lives in War and those that have served their Country in War and in Peace.
We will also especially remember those Soldiers and Airmen from Great Britain and the Commonwealth who are buried in our beautiful churchyard.
To commemorate this, the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War 1, a beautiful arch of over 600 knitted poppies has been prepared in the Church Porch, in addition the School will be helping to decorate the Church with poppies.
The Service will start at 10.45 am, however you are urged to arrive by 10.30 am to secure a seat.
We will be joined by CO 1 Military Working Dog Regiment RAVC, Lt Col Neil Lakin RE and a contingent from the Regiment together with our Uniformed Youth Groups and representatives of the Royal British Legion and Royal Air Forces Association. The Act of Remembrance will be led by Air Vice Marshal Nigel Sudborough CB OBE DL the President of RBL Rutland.
16 Villagers lost their lives in WW1 and their names are commemorated on the village war memorial, their stories do live on and you can view them here on the Rutland Remembers website.
